Girls Varsity Soccer –

The Girls Varsity Soccer team had 2 tough EIL games last week. They began the week with a commanding 3-0 win over class B Winsor. Tess Huckaby ’18 scored 2 goals, and Justine Hatton ’16 had a goal. Adia Maund ’17 played well in the net earning a clean sheet. Then, on Halloween, the girls traveled to Berwick. After taking a 1-0 lead early in the second half, they were unable to sustain Berwick’s attack, and ended up losing 3-1. The girls play their final game of the season this week against 2nd place LCA.

Boys Varsity Soccer –

The Boys Varsity Soccer team had a busy week with three matches in four days. The week started with an away match at Bancroft. Looking to avenge a hard luck draw earlier in the season, the boys carried play and came away with a solid 4-0 win. On Friday, the boys hosted Berwick. The team played some of its best attacking football of the season, as five different players scored in a 5-1 win. Saturday brought cold weather and rain, as the team travelled to Exeter for a battle against one of the top Class A teams in New England. After a 90 minute 0-0 deadlock, an Exeter player poked home a desperation scramble with 1 second remaining. Despite the heart-wrenching loss, the Beaver team played very well, and can look back on the game feeling good about their performance. This week the team will travel to LCA with hopes of completing an undefeated EIL season. The boys now stand at 10-0-3 in league play and 11-5-3 overall.

Varsity Volleyball –

This week the Girls Varsity Volleyball team beat CHCH 3 games to to 1 and lost to Dana Hall 0 to 3. Both games were highlighted by the exceptional play of Charlee Manigat ’15 who in addition to her consistently good offensive play, really established herself in each game with stellar defense. Charlee won the team’s woman of the match award in both games this week.

Beaver has two remaining games left in their season, with senior day coming up this Friday against Southfield school.

Varsity Golf –

The Varsity Golf Team played two matches this past week hosting Berwick on Monday and traveling Bancroft on Wednesday. Berwick has won the league for the last six years now and played very strong in the match winning 5 – 1. The one victory came from captain Zach Rosenberg ’15 who shot a 10 over par 46. On Wednesday the team played at Bancroft and tied 3-3, but lost the first tiebreaker by 4 holes. The three matches were won by Aram Soultanian ’17 shooting a 9 over par 45, captain Zach Rosenberg ’15 shooting a 12 over par 48 and Ben Snyder ’17 shooting a 12 over par 48. It will be an 18 hole stroke play tournament where each of the 8 teams in the league will bring their top six golfers to compete. The team with the lowest team score will win the tournament.

Varsity Cross Country –

The Boys Varsity Cross Country Team fought through tough course conditions (slips and falls) and some resulting injuries on Saturday to maintain their 5th place standing in the EIL, recording wins over LCA, Pingree, and Bancroft at the Championship Meet.  In a field of 126 runners, captain Sam Glenn ’16 lead the way with a great race, earning a medal with his 8th place finish.
