Boys’ Varsity Soccer
The Boys’ Varsity Soccer team played two league games this past week. On Wednesday, the boys traveled to Portsmouth Abbey, where they won 3-0 on two goals from Zack LaCava ’14 and one from Silmar Bueno ’14. Nat Brown’15 delivered several quality balls from his right back position and earned two assists on the day. On Friday, the boys hosted Concord Academy in a much anticipated rematch between the league’s top two teams. Concord avenged their earlier season defeat by holding on for a well earned 2-1 win. The loss was Beaver’s first in the EIL in over two years. Silmar Bueno ’14 tallied for Beaver, and the boys pressed hard and hit the post in the dying moments, but came up short. This week, they will host Bancroft on Wednesday and then travel to Berwick Academy on Friday.
Girls’ Varsity Soccer
The Girls’ Varsity Soccer team played two games this past week. After beating Newton Country Day earlier in the season, the girls traveled to their pitch, and although they played very well, suffered a tough 1-0 loss on a controversial goal. The girls looked to rebound on Friday as they traveled to perennial rival, Concord. After scoring with 20 seconds remaining in the first half, the girls scored twice more in the second half, and won the game 3-0. The game featured stellar defensive play and Remi Shore ’16 made some outstanding saves between the posts. The girls sit in 4th place in the EIL with big games coming up this week against Winsor and Berwick.
Varsity Golf
The Varsity Golf team played a tough home match on Wednesday against Berwick, the #1 team in the league, and they lost 4 1/2 – 1 1/2. Each member of the team played very well, but unfortunately, they all did not play well enough to earn the victory. Tyler DeLuca (2014) won his match, and John Kalnins ’14 tied his match. The team has two more matches in the regular season before the tournament on November 6th. They will travel to Bancroft on Wednesday and host Pingree on Friday.
Varsity Field Hockey
Beaver Field Hockey played Concord Academy away this past week and had a tough 5-0 loss. The team battled through some injuries and kept the energy up but just couldn’t put one in the net. Grace Bucking ’15 had another solid game for Beaver, playing strong in the midfield, while Caroline Hill ’14, one of the captains, led the team in the back with some great hustle and a few saves near the goal. Beaver will play Berwick on Friday.
