Duarte, Dillion, Cannistraro, and Cabral earn Athletic Accolades

Posted on January 31, 2013

This week, four student-athletes were honored with Athletic Accolades. Kaila Duarte ’13, Ciara Dillion ’16, Drew Cannistraro ’15, and Sofia Cabral ’18 received the award for their hard work and performance on the courts and mat.

Co-captain Kaila Duarte ’13 and point guard Ciara Dillon ’16 have been two consistent performers for the 15-0 girls varsity basketball team. They both have demonstrated leadership and intensity in each game. This past week Kaila averaged 16.5 ppg, 8 rpg, and 3 bpg in wins vs. conference foe Dana Hall and non-conference Lincoln School. In those two wins, Ciara averaged 13ppg, 3 spg and 3 apg. Their performances have helped position the team as one of the strongest in New England.

Drew Cannistraro ’15 – Varsity Wrestling

Drew has improved dramatically this season and continues to push himself to greater heights. After winning one match last season, Drew spent this off season working hard and going to training camps. Following a dominant victory over a tough Landmark opponent, Drew hasn’t looked back. Since winter break Drew’s record is 7-4 and he recently took third place at the Cape Cod Invitational. He fights extremely hard in his matches, and he works equally hard in practice. We are all immensely proud of his growth this season.

Sofia Cabral ’18 – MS Girls B Basketball

Sofia is such a dynamic and key player to our team’s success. She was the leading scorer in both our win over Meadowbrook and the tough tie with Rivers with 6 and 8 points respectively. Sofia has a great ability to see the court and make the appropriate plays. In practice Sofia is a known leader and exemplifies many qualities that all coaches look for. The coaches are very proud of the progress Sofia has made this season, and we know that her basketball IQ will develop even further as the season progresses.
