Boys Cross Country

Competing against a very strong conference, two-time defending champion Beaver Country Day came in 3rd place at this year’s EIL Championship. Beaver’s pack was led by two top 5 overall finishes, and the entire team had across-the-board tremendous individual performances on the day. Joe Connelly placed second overall and George Wright finished 4th overall; both athletes were honored with individual medals for their top ten performances. The rest of Beaver’s top five finishers completed the 5,000 meter race in under twenty minutes. Murray Skolnick, the team’s consistent number three behind an exceptionally strong top two, came in 20th overall. Coming off of a season-long injury and running a very impressive Beaver debut was freshman Kent Ellertson, in 32nd place. The fifth finisher for Beaver on the day was Elias Duncan, a senior, in 40th place.

Beaver’s numbers six through ten, all finishing within only 75 seconds of each other, were Niles Cohen, Liam Brady, Senior Captain Neil Hildick-Smith, Charlie DeLorey, and Clay Starr. Out of eight EIL schools on the boys’ side, host school Pingree came in first place and Concord Academy finished second. There were a total of 142 athletes in the race.

Beaver will conclude its season next Saturday, November 10th, at the NEPSTA Division IV New England Championship in Millbrook, New York.

Golf

The golf team dropped two EIL matches this past week to Bancroft and Pingree. The team scores in both matches were 1.5 – 4.5.  The team will look to end the season on a strong note at the EIL Tourney on Wednesday at Portsmouth Abbey.

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer team won both EIL games this past week to extend their league record to 12-0-0. With the wins, the team secured an EIL championship. On Wednesday, the boys traveled to Worcester to take on the Bancroft Bulldogs. With five first half goals, the team showed strength throughout the roster. On Friday, Berwick Academy came to Beaver motivated to knock off the boys team and earn a postseason bid. Silmar Bueno took a long feed from Erik Reed to open the scoring early in the second half with a strong volley. Beaver controlled the tempo from there and cruised to a 3-0 win on additional goals from Bueno and Tyler Monaghan. This week, the boys will attempt to complete an undefeated EIL run with final games against Landmark and LCA.

Girls Soccer

The girls soccer team dropped two matches this past week against top EIL opponents.  The team celebrated Senior Day on Wednesday during their last home match against Winsor.  Beaver fought hard throughout the game but lost 3-1.  On Friday, the team travelled to Berwick and again played a solid 80 minutes.  Beaver was able to tie it 1-1 in the first half, but Berwick came away with the game winner off of a corner kick.  Maria Zecca scored twice this week to lead the offense.  Beaver will conclude their season on Wednesday against undefeated LCA.
