Baseball
The Beaver varsity baseball team completed a busy week of action on friday with three games in four days. The boys opened the week with a dominant win over Gann Academy by the score of 13-6. Devon Friedfertig (2013) went six strong innings and Henry Hirshland (2015) went 2-3 with 4 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases in the win. On Wednesday, the team struggled to get going and fell to Concord Academy 11-1. The boys rounded out the week seeking to avenge last week’s tough loss to the Bancroft Bulldogs. Unfortunately, the Bancroft bats were alive on the day, and Beaver’s record slipped to 2-3.

Softball
The young varsity softball team travelled to Rhode Island on Wednesday to take on Portsmouth Abbey. The girls were unable to overcome their highly talented and experienced opponents and came away with a loss. Next week, they will look to turn the tides when they take on cross-town rival Brimmer and May.

Boys Lacrosse
The boys varsity lacrosse team ran its winning streak to three games with wins against Gann Academy and Landmark. Outscoring their opponents 31-10 on the week, the boys raised their record to 3-1. Danny Getz (2013) had a breakout game against Landmark with three goals and three assists, establishing himself as a legitimate threat at the attack position. In goal, David Herman (2012) averaged ten saves per game to help preserve the wins. On Monday, the team will take on an ISL opponent when they travel to Lawrence Academy.

Girls Lacrosse
The girls travelled to Waring on Friday for a non-league game. Beaver came up just short by a score of 16-11. Senior captain Carly Furr (2012) scored 4 goals and contributed two assists while Junior captain Tess Anderson (2013) scored 3 goals. Riley Nelson also had a strong performance as she played a consistently strong defensive game and scored her first goal of the season. This week the girls will face two EIL tests against Pingree and Dana Hall.

Boys Tennis
The boys varsity tennis team had plenty of action this past week with matches against Gann, Dexter, and Bancroft. The boys swept Gann by a score of 5-0 and fell to Dexter 6-1. Captain TJ Moor (2012) stood tall in the Dexter match, as he dominated one of the top players in the region 6-1, 6-4. The team closed out the week with a solid 5-0 win against Bancroft to even their record at 2-2. They will look to establish themselves as league leaders with three EIL battles this week.

Girls Tennis
The girls varsity tennis team continued their winning ways on Wednesday with a solid win against Concord Academy. Gabby Marks (2015) helped to lead the way with a strong 6-0, 6-1 performance. Lily Brooks (2012) and Electra Walker (2015) came back after dropping the first set to win their doubles match and seal the team victory. The girls continued their momentum on Friday as they swept Brimmer and May 5-0. The team’s record now stands at a perfect 4-0.

Ultimate Frisbee
The Beaver Country Day School Ultimate Frisbee team continues to show promise and battle hard each time out. For the second time in as many matches, the team lost a nail biter by a score of 12-10. Despite the loss to Pingree, the team can look forward to a rematch on Pingree’s soil in a week’s time.
