In a highly anticipated and intense non-league battle, Beaver traveled to Cambridge on Saturday to square off against the BB&N Knights. The atmosphere was electric, and both sides showed tremendous quality and passion in a 1-1 draw. After a scoreless first half, Charlie Segar (2012) put Beaver ahead in the 47th minute. After Silmar Bueno (2014) beat his defender and earned a free kick from 25 yards out, Zachary Herivaux (2015) struck a dangerous shot to the far post. BB&N keeper, Ryan Simpson, dove to his left to make the save, but Segar buried the rebound, and the Beaver players and faithful celebrated. Despite a world class effort and 9 saves from David Price (2014), BB&N knotted the score with just 8 minutes remaining on a low driven corner kick to the near post. Beaver failed to track runners well enough on the set piece and Duff Thomson deftly slotted home from 6 yards out. Price was brilliant throughout making several brave and acrobatic saves. The Beaver boys showed tremendous courage and excellent organization in the waning moments as they held the talented and experienced Knights at bay. Next up, Beaver will travel to Weston on Wednesday to do battle with another Class B New England Powerhouse, Rivers School.
