Beaver Coaches and Athletes Gear Up For Fall Sports

Posted on September 10, 2010

“There is a buzz surrounding the new coaches and student-athletes this fall. The energy and expectations are at a high level across each of our sports.” said Athletic Director Sherry Levin. “We look forward to seeing our student-athletes work hard and do their best.”

Boys Soccer

The boys’ soccer team will benefit from a strong returning core and several talented young players. The team made progress in 2009 as it rose in the league standings and was very competitive. With a very technical and experienced pool of players, the boys will attempt to challenge for an EIL title and postseason bid this fall.

Girls Soccer
The Beaver girls’ soccer program is fortunate to have two new dynamic coaches. Giovanni Viana will take over the reigns as head coach and Molly Romano will join as his assistant. Both coaches bring tremendous experience and renewed energy to the program. The team is returning 15 players. With several new student-athletes joining them, the girls varsity soccer team hopes to make significant progress in 2010.

Field Hockey
Following back-to-back EIL Tournament appearances, the field hockey team will look to participate in the EIL postseason tourney for the third consecutive year. Under the leadership of new Associate Head Coaches Ashley Rohn and Michelle Carey, the BCDS field hockey team will work hard and continue to build on its recent progress.

Golf
The BCDS varsity golf team is looking to get back to championship form. After winning five consecutive EIL championships from 2004-2008, the team has re-loaded and has hopes of a strong finish this season.

Cross Country
After finishing third in the EIL in 2009, the boys are poised to challenge for an EIL banner in 2010. Head coach Jake Walter is pleased to have several strong returning male and female runners.
