Here are some highlights from this past week—November 4 through November 8—in the Upper School.
At an Upper School Meeting on Monday, students heard various announcements about the upcoming weeks. Math Club shared details about an upcoming Harvard-MIT Math Tournament on Saturday, November 11. The South Asian Affinity group promoted their Diwali celebration, inviting students to come celebrate the festival of lights on Friday. Mr. Egwuatu shared details about 245 Woodland, a new space on Beaver’s campus that will be used for classes, student programming, and community gatherings.
Thirteen seniors were honored during varsity soccer’s senior night game versus Pingree on Monday. The game was an opportunity for family and friends to celebrate seniors as the season comes to an end.
On Wednesday, Advisory was opened up to provide additional spaces for students wishing to discuss and process the election results. Students were encouraged to bring their questions, emotions, social media takeaways, and thoughts to either the Rogers Room or Boardroom to unpack the election in a safe space.
Students heard a preview of the upcoming instrumental and choral concerts at an Upper School Meeting on Thursday. The instrumental music concert will be held this Sunday at 3:00 P.M. in Bradley Hall, while the choral concert will take place Tuesday, November 12 at 7 P.M.
Student Council hosted fall activities on the D-Level in an effort to bring students together and build community. Students made caramel apples, decorated pumpkins, and enjoyed a break from their end-of-term work.
Students celebrated Diwali on Friday during an event hosted by the South Asian Affinity Group. With a buffet of snacks, games of carrom, and a henna station, the event allowed students and faculty/staff to explore South Asian culture and celebrate the festival of lights.
