🧩 Mr. Barber from the Design Level talked about the Tetris Together Project. Everyone will create visual representations of their identities.
This is a fun community-building activity, and an opportunity to experience the design process. The design process will start this week, as students reflect on the important parts of their identity that they want to share with our MS community. Next week, during advisory, students will turn their ideas into rough sketches, and next Thursday, each grade will spend time on the D-Level during Feed Your Brain Day to make a final cardboard Tetris piece to create a mural in the hallway.
⭐️ The second Hiatt Leadership Institute Workshop, The North Star Within, is coming up this Monday, October 20. Students can sign up and join to talk about what happens when we act in ways that don’t reflect who we are or what we value. Students will receive an email from the Hiatt Center to register. If you have questions, reach out to Ms. Garayúa.
🐉 We are looking for students interested in playing Dungeons & Dragons once a week during recess. A form was sent out for students to sign up.
✨ Mr. Castillo announced a new addition to our affinity group lineup, Asian/Pacific Islander (API). This is the first Middle School Affinity Group that will be run by Upper School students. The first meeting is this Thursday. See more information about our Affinity Spaces on our website.
🎉 This Friday is the first Middle School and Upper School Affinity crossover event. Students who participate in an Affinity Space or who identify with one of our Affinity Spaces are welcome to attend.
Student Reminders
We watched a funny 45-second video about Managing Your Laptop, and I reminded the students of some best practices to keep from being distracted by technology:
- Only keep tabs open that you need for class
- Put your laptop screen at half mast or closed when you are not working on it
- Listen to your teachers
We reminded students to let Ms. Hollos know if they want to run a MS meeting and to pick up trash on their way out of Gym A.
