Dear Beaver Community,
The strength of the Beaver community can be found across our beautiful campus, in spaces large and small. The classrooms buzz with energy, curiosity and discussion led by teachers who guide them to new achievements and passions. The athletic fields crowd with athletes and fans, as students test their limits and push themselves to compete with maximum effort and sportsmanship. The hallways fill with noise as students connect, collaborate and, of course, socialize – making Beaver their school as they grow and challenge themselves as joyful learners.
As a parent to three Beaver students (’22, ’25, ’28), I have had a front row seat to the magic of a school that truly meets students where they are and then launches them to new heights. At the center of it are the incredible faculty who know our kids and give them opportunities to own their learning, challenge their assumptions, and feel supported at every step along the way. Beaver students feel empowered to question, debate, delve deeper and – perhaps most importantly—discover throughout their educational journey. Learning for them is neither rote nor routine, but rather individualized and inspiring. The confidence that stems from designing your own course of study and being asked to show what you know through presentations, assessments, and analytical writing prepares Beaver students for college and beyond.
Beaver could not deliver on its mission to expand the nature of school without dedicated leaders and the incredible support of its community. Alumni, current and former parents, faculty and staff, grandparents and friends join together in partnership with a common goal in mind: supporting Beaver students and faculty. I want to thank every donor and volunteer—whose time, talent and treasure sustain our community and make it possible for every student to thrive.
It is also my privilege to acknowledge two important members of our community.
First, outgoing Board president, Heeten Kalan P’21, ‘23. In his service to Beaver, Heeten has been a thoughtful, steady, and selfless leader, guiding the school through a period of transition while laying the groundwork for a confident future. We are stronger because of his wisdom and commitment, and I am pleased that he will join the esteemed group of Emeriti Trustees.
All of us at Beaver are also grateful to Kim Samson, who led with compassion, commitment, and a deep belief in Beaver’s mission throughout her tenure as Head of School. We are fortunate to be working closely with Interim Head of School Sarah Pelmas, who will steadily guide and build on the important initiatives that Kim introduced.
Over the past two years, Beaver has raised more than $8 million—an achievement made possible by all of you. I hope you will read through our impact stories and see the power of our collective philanthropy.
Together, we are ensuring that Beaver continues to be a place where students are known, challenged, and inspired every day.
