Posted on May 16, 2025

Here are some highlights from the past two weeks—May 5 through May 16—in the Upper School.

👋 Goodbye, seniors! The class of 2025 completed their final day of classes on Friday, May 9. To honor the occasion, the Upper School community gathered for Senior Send Off, a tradition at Beaver that celebrates seniors as they embark on their next chapter. The assembly featured an address from Head of Upper School Lisa Brown, words of wisdom from senior advisors, and an emotional performance from the Middle School chorus.

💼 Senior Experience kicks off. From May 12 to May 30, seniors are participating in internships on and off campus. By breaking down the school schedule and immersing seniors in their fields of interest, Senior Experience enables students to discover new careers, engage with meaningful projects, and make connections that will outlast their time at Beaver.

🎶 Students sing and dance through the ’70s! The Upper School musical, 9 to 5, made its Beaver debut on Thursday, May 15. Students worked for months on and off stage bringing the world of 9 to 5 to life through meticulous costuming, a massive rotating stage, and pitch-perfect group numbers. Over the course of three shows, audiences got to witness (and laugh along with) the dynamic story of working women in the ’70s. To read more about the musical, click here!

🗺️ Students travel around the world on the R-Level. The inaugural One Beaver Cultural Heritage Festival brought students and faculty together for a celebration of identity, community, and the rich tapestry of cultures that make up Beaver. The event–led entirely by students–featured various displays with facts, artifacts, music, and food from around the world. To read more about the festival, click here!

🧬 Science students hear from alumni. Beaver alumni Lily Sidman ’23, Gina Lombard ’20, and Oliver Trejo ’21 returned to Beaver to meet with students and share their experiences studying science in college. The trio detailed their college journeys, shed light on what initially sparked their interests in STEM, and shared advice for students beginning the college admission process.

🇺🇳 BVR Model UN finishes strong. Eight Beaver students participated in the Weymouth Model UN conference, finishing out an incredible year with BVR MUN. Individual awards including “Best Delegate” were awarded to students for their outstanding accomplishments.

🦮 Bear at Beaver! Officer Katie and Community Resource Dog Bear from the Brookline Police Department visited the Veterinary Club to discuss Bear’s work. The visit–organized by club leader Maddy Bell ’26–opened a conversation about dogs in the workforce and the unique training that is required for them.
