Upper School Wrap-Up: 05.02.25

Here are some highlights from the past two weeks—April 21 through May 2—in the Upper School.


🥍 Happy SpringFest, Beaver! Students, faculty/staff, and community members met on the Upper Field to root on varsity lacrosse players as they faced of against Concord Academy. In between the boys varsity game at 4:00 p.m. and the girls game at 4:45 p.m., attendees enjoyed a food truck, a pop-up Beaver swag shop, and a ton of school spirit facilitated by Student Council.

🗳️ Students cast votes for student council. Candidates for the Executive Board took to the podium at an Upper School meeting to deliver speeches highlighting their leadership goals. With 15 candidates running across five elections, the speeches highlighted the diversity of initiatives students hope to implement in office.

After a voting period, the following results were announced:

  • Representative to the Board of Trustees: Serenity Mingoes
  • Director of Communication: Cha Cha Cohen
  • Treasurer: Cesi Kaplan
  • Vice President: Brody VanDernoot
  • President: Leili Singer

🖼️ Senior Art Show: on display now! After months of hard work, Senior Studio students put their art on display during the 2025 Senior Show. With pieces ranging from charcoal drawings of cathedrals to an aluminum sculpture suspended from the ceiling, the show offers a look into the diversity of experiences and talents within the class of 2025. Missed the gallery opening? No worries- the Senior Art Show will remain on display through the end of the school year.

💬 Students chat with 2025 Beaver Alumni Award Recipient John Weltman ’75! A few days before being honored with the 2025 Beaver Alumni Award at Reunion, John Weltman ’75 sat down with students to discuss his career and answer questions. Weltman recounted how he got his start at Beaver, law school, life as an attorney, and how he ended up founding Circle Surrogacy, a global leader and trendsetter in the field of surrogate parenting.

🎓 Another senior milestone? Check ✅  The Beaver Marketing team transformed the walls of the foyer into a mosaic of college mascots, each representing a school a senior has been accepted to. This yearly tradition that has only grown in popularity, with students taking pictures and videos to commemorate signing the wall.

🎭 Drama students spend evening downtown. Students in the course Acting: Drama Workshop headed to downtown Boston to grab dinner at Rock Bottom and see a show at the Improv Asylum. The trip expanded upon the skills students have been developing in the course and contextualized them in a professional setting.

🏡 Students studying Arabic meet resettled Syrian families. In collaboration with the Hiatt Center and Jewish Family Services of Metrowest, students had the opportunity to connect with two local resettled families through a shared language of Arabic. The collaboration culminated in a joyous meetup between the families and students on Beaver’s campus, which you can read more about here!
