When I’m not at work you can find me … escaping town for the weekend, traveling to a new country, or on the tennis courts!

What excites you most about teaching/working at Beaver? Working with the students! Activating their agency and cultivating their genius for good in the world.

Ethan Winglass – Middle School English Teacher

When I’m not at work you can find me … reading my newest book or exploring new local restaurants.

My favorite thing about Boston is … the Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots.

What excites you most about teaching/working at Beaver? What excites me most about teaching and working at Beaver is the sense of community and belonging that I’ve experienced already from my colleagues and students. I’m looking forward to building meaningful relationships and helping students grow as lifelong learners.

Emily Robertson – Upper School English Teacher

I’m coming from … I grew up in California, and I’m coming from South Korea, where I taught at an international school.
When I’m not at work you can find me … trail running, doing yoga, and playing video games or watching movies with my partner.

My favorite thing about Boston is … the access to many different cuisines and the balance of beautiful neighborhoods and natural spaces.

What excites you most about teaching/working at Beaver? Being in a place that centers learning, inquiry, and relationships! I’m excited to ask questions and build connections with students, colleagues, and families.


Tim Barber – MS Support Staff + MS/US Afternoon Visual Arts

I’m coming from … Previously a Pre-K through 8th Grade Art Teacher at St. John School
When I’m not at work you can find me … Skateboarding at the skatepark, skating in the streets, or sitting at my desk, playing video games and working on my comic book.

My favorite thing about Boston is … All the good food and the SKATE COMMUNITY!
Book I’m reading … Currently reading Songs of Doom by Dr. Hunter S. Thompson as well as Eastman and Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1984)
My favorite food is … Home-cookin’! My old man is the grillmaster and Ma’s got the best baking skills this side of the Mississippi.
My favorite animal is … Moose! He’s got the big antlers and the skinny little legs. Looks like he shouldn’t work but he does!

Barbie or Oppenheimer? Barbie! I didn’t see Oppenheimer, and I didn’t wear pink to Barbie, but wow that movie had me hooked. I laughed, I cried, I laughed again!
What excites you most about teaching/working at Beaver? I can’t wait to start making connections, meeting students, and helping kids make really excellent works of art.

My favorite thing about Boston is … The Sports Franchises, also Boston is a melting pot of so many different cultures. I also love the change in seasons that usher in new activities and life to the city, there is always something to do.

What excites you most about teaching/working at Beaver? The history of the school, the location to Boston and its surrounding suburbs. As well as the new innovative approach to student learning and culture.
