This week’s…
BVR STUDENT HIGHLIGHT
Marley Loranger ’26 and Jasmine Idehen ’26 presented The BVR Student element Connects with Family, Friends, and Others.
“The BVR community is a king and welcoming place. As BVR students, we should make sure it stays that way. It doesn’t take much to be kind. You have to be nice to people to connect with them, otherwise they won’t like you.”
LUNCH & RECESS PROGRAMMING
Also happening this week …
Ms. Wildes talked about the Hiatt Summer Fellowship. The program grants Beaver students, grades 6-11, the financial support to explore and participate in meaningful leadership and civic engagement work with non-profit organizations over the summer. In her presentation, she shared popular opportunities in which BVR students have participated in the past. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with the Hiatt Center by emailing hiatt@bcdschool.org to talk about their options.
Theo Greene ’27 and Tylee Gould ’28 announced the MS Musical, The SpongeBob Musical, is this Thursday, February 10 and Friday, February 11 at 6 p.m. in Bradley Hall. Tickets are almost sold out!
The ushers for Thursday are Daniel Kemp, Nathan Rosario, William Mortimer, Aubrey Harper, Peter Mortimer, Samantha Feinberg, Abigail Zimman, and Chloe Kaufman.
The ushers for Friday are Beckett Freid, Sam Singer, Tyler Moyo, Zico El Abd, Jaz Winston, Ethan Okafor, and Niko Reuning.
Dany Sidman ’26 and Rylee Barnwell ’26 talked about the #WhyIPlay slideshow that was created to celebrate National Women in Sports Day. They described the Title IX law, and read aloud some quotes from the slideshow.
“This is important to us because we both play three sports and have faced obstacles throughout our lives and to see all of these women come together and make their voices heard, it encourages us to continue doing what we love.”
El Strom ’27, Bee Ashburn ’27, and Alex Borden ’27 announced #loveisforeveryone. Each year at BVR, the Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA) helps raise awareness of the heteronormative aspects of Valentin’s Day. They encouraged everyone to consider their words and actions to support the LGBTQIA+ community. They encouraged everyone to wear rainbow colors on Monday.
Nate Guevin introduced the new director of the Research and Design Team, Blake St. Louis.
The R+D team is sponsoring Valentine’s Day activities on the R and D levels at recess on Monday.
Ann Bevan Hollos, Associate Director of Middle School, spoke about her own addiction to her phone (using it to entertain herself when she could be making healthier choices) and things she has been doing to help herself ( She plugs it in at night outside of her bedroom). She reminded students that the school helps them limit their technology distraction by having them keep their phones in their bag, on silent, with no vibration during the school day. Students are here to learn, and they can’t focus on their class, classroom, and classmates when they are on their phones.
The next BVR book club meeting is this Friday, February 11. We are reading Prairie Lotus by Linda Sue Park. Students can get a copy of the book from the R-Level.
Today in RISE students made model magic creations.
