Speaker: Dale Mandelman, RN, Peter Krueger Center for Infectious Disease, NYC
Class: Biology Foundations
Dale Mandelman from the Peter Krueger Center for Infectious Disease, NYC talked with students about the history of HIV as well as the latest treatments and causes for infection. She began her work at the clinic in 1987 when HIV was newly diagnosed and her work was not only to medically care for her patients but to bring them dignity and compassion. Her emotional recount of the epidemic shed light on a period in medical history we can still learn from today. She still works and manages the clinic today.
