Beaver’s Varsity Golf team, coached by Spencer Sotell and Larry McKinney, is off to an auspicious start this fall, beating Bancroft twice with scores of 9-0 and 9-0, and besting Landmark with a score of 8.5-.5. Senior David Rogers is 2-0-1 in the three matches, with a tie against Landmark. David has committed early to attend Georgetown next year as a member of the Hoya golf team. Junior Rebecca Skoler is 2-0, and senior Jacob Florence is 3-0. The team is rounded out by seniors Jack Heffernan (3-0) and Ben Wilmerding (1-0), and juniors Christian Vaream (3-0), Alex Shiguetta (2-0), and Robert Paglione (1-0). The team has a big match against Pingree coming up Wednesday, October 3.
Coach Sotell adds, “Everyone on the team has been working hard, and the results have shown so far in our matches. These eight students all bring impeccable athletic talent to this year’s Varsity Golf Team. We are off to such a great start this season, and there is no sign of slowing down.“
