Model UN club travels to NYC for the Global Classrooms International Conference

During the weekend of May 14, 10 members of Beaver’s Model UN club traveled to New York City for the Global Classrooms International Model UN Conference at the United Nations and the Grand Hyatt.

The 10 students who attended represented the Republic of Tunisia in five committees: Aidan Geary ’18, Ryan McClennen ’18, Jessica Ainooson ’16, Pablo Fiori ’16, Evan Feldberg Bannatyne ’16, Nichole Irving ’16, Marcia Zimmerman ’15, Henry Bailey ’15, and Julia Schwartz ’15.

Beaver delegates did an excellent job debating and negotiating topics including humanitarian intervention, gender equity, and internet freedom of speech. – Advisors, Tiffany Anderson and Sumaya Ibourk.

Four of our delegates won awards at this conference:

  • Dimitrius Keeler and Henry Bailey won Best Delegate in their committee, the Human Rights Council.
  • Marcia Zimmerman and Jessica Ainooson won Honorable Mention in their committee, Social Humanitarian and Cultural.
