Weekly Athletics Write-Up 3/2/15

Boys’ Varsity Basketball –
The Boys’ Basketball team finished the regular season with two games on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the team celebrated Senior Night in honoring seniors Eric LiBassi, Matt Stamm, Leo Connelly, and Dimitrius Keeler before the game. The team defeated Pingree 84-66 to win their 6th consecutive EIL Title. They have gone undefeated in the league the past 5 years. On Saturday, the team lost a tough game to a talented Class AA team, Holderness, by a score of 56-49.

On Sunday, team was selected as the # 3 seed for the NEPSAC Class B Tournament. They will host Rivers on Wednesday, March 4 at 5:00 p.m. in Gym A.

Girls’ Varsity Basketball –
The Girls’ Basketball team finished the regular season with a 1-1 record. On Wednesday, they traveled to Lawrence Academy to face a talented Class B squad and lost 49-35. On Friday they needed to win on the road vs. Pingree to share in the EIL Title. The team accomplished their goal and won 58-41. They are EIL Co-Champions. This is their 4th consecutive banner.

Their 16-3 record earned them a #3 seed in the NEPSAC Class C tournament. They host St. Luke’s on Wednesday, March 4 at 3:30pm in Gym A.

Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey –
The Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey team finished their season against a strong Newton Country Day team. Newton was fighting for a playoff spot and shot the puck every chance they got. The girls played hard and had many opportunities but could not get the puck in the net as they lost 8-0. Vida Bailey ’17 had the biggest performance of her career stopping 68 of 76 shots to keep the team fighting hard the entire game. The team had their most successful season this year, winning their first game in Beaver history and constantly improving every time they stepped on the ice. The girls had a great year and are looking to build on their success next season.
