Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey –

The Girls’ Varsity Ice Hockey team faced off this past weekend against League powerhouse Berwick Academy. The game took place on Dexter School’s Olympic size rink which made for a much bigger playing surface and a lot more skating for both teams. Berwick took control of the game from the beginning and the girls lost by a very hard fought 6-0 score. Vida Bailey ’17 kept the team in the game stopping 31 shots. The team travels to North Andover on Friday to take on Brooks Academy JV squad.

Varsity Wrestling –

On Saturday, the Beaver Wrestling team came off a 2 week competition hiatus at the hands of seemingly endless amounts of snow. The team traveled to Tilton School to wrestle in the annual Northern New England Invitational. Representing Beaver were Hudson Roddy ’18 at 120 lbs, Ben Campbell ’18 at 126 lbs, Jacob Weil ’17 at 132 lbs, and Dan McDonald ’15 at 138 lbs. Campbell wrestled a solid day and earned himself a hard fought victory on the day. Roddy’s highlight of the day was defeating the #2 seed in the tournament in overtime to advance to the semi-finals. The crowning achievement was senior Dan McDonald’s flawless performance throughout the day. Beginning the day as an unseeded wrestler, he was forced to take on the #2 wrestler first. After a decisive win there, McDonald ended up getting the best of the 7 seed in the quarter finals and the 3 seed in the semi-finals. In his finals match against a the #1 seed from Middlesex School, McDonald pinned his way to a championship in the first period. A great way to cap off a 9 hour day of wrestling for Beaver!
