Girls Basketball
The girls varsity basketball team started off 2013 with two solid victories. In conference play they went on the road to beat LCA 45-38. In a defensive battle Beaver dominated the post with a double-double effort from Kaila Duarte ’13, 15 points and 14 rebounds. Game high points were scored by Stephanie Soto-Rivera ’14 and a stellar defensive effort by Ciara Dillon ’16 and Miah Andrews ’15 helped lead us to a 5-0 record in the EIL. In an out of conference game vs. ISL school St. Mark’s, Beaver won 43-18 despite a cold offensive performance. Dillon found the mark and tallied a 16 point performance. Beaver takes on another top ISL team in Brooks School on Wednesday, January 16th at 4:00 p.m.
Boys Basketball
The Boys’ Varsity Basketball team went 2-0 last week with wins against Lexington Christian Academy and St. Mark’s. Overall, the team played exceptional team defense in their victories. This was definitely the case on Saturday, as Beaver held St. Mark’s to 31 points. Senior Jherson Colon led the team with 13 points.
Girls Ice Hockey
The girls did not play any games this past week. They return to action on Friday when they take on Dana Hall.
Squash
The Squash team had a good week. The team has been focusing on match play in practice and everybody has been improving their game. The team played a great match against Squashbusters on Thursday, but lost by a score of 5-2. There were many competitive games throughout.
Wrestling
The varsity wrestling team went up against Portsmouth Abbey school on Saturday. It was a strong overall performance, as each wrestler who went out on the mat won their match. The final team score was 39-24 in favor of Beaver Country Day. The varsity team will look to beat this team again along with CHCH on Wednesday and improve their record to 6-4.
