Republican State Representative Dan Winslow spoke at the US Tuesday Forum on Dec. 11, 2012.
In his talk, Mr. Winslow challenged our stereotypes of Republicans and what they stand for by talking about why he voted for gay and transgender rights, why he voted for the legalization of marijuana, and why he is pro-choice. These issues were discussed to demonstrate his point that it’s important to know your representatives and their stance on issues rather than making generalizations based on the (R) or the (D) next to their name.
He finished with a strong message that diversity of ideas is most important. His talk was thought-provoking and sparked lively dialogue in the hallways and classrooms following the assembly.
