Beaver squared off in a highly anticipated non-league battle on Saturday with the BB&N Knights and came away with a hard fought win. Jamie Kennedy (2015) opened the scoring half way through the first half, as he took down a cross from Zachary Herivaux (2015) and smashed it home with his right foot. Beaver nearly added to the lead when BB&N veteran keeper Ryan Simpson denied a Zack LaCava (2014) bullet and Silmar Bueno (2014) rang the crossbar from 25 yards out. BB&N leveled the score just before halftime on a long outlet from Simpson that saw Jamar Noble in alone. The second half started in explosive fashion as Kennedy drove to his right and cut a clever pass back against the grain to a streaking Silmar Bueno on the left flank. Bueno calmly slotted under Simpson for what turned out to be the game winner. The final half hour saw stellar defensive play from the back four of Sam Bacherman (2015), Michael Gray (2014), Alex Schechter (2014), and Tyler Monaghan (2014). Erik Reed (2014) and Weliton Filho (2016) each put in great shifts as holding midfielders as they made things difficult for BB&N’s midfield to link up play. In the waning moments, Herivaux beat two Knights on the dribble and drove into the box. Herivaux appeared to be pulled down but the official waved play on. Minutes later Herivaux drove again only to be denied by Simpson coming hard off of his line. With two minutes to play the Beaver faithful held their collective breath as Danny Getz (2013) made two point blank acrobatic saves to preserve the win. Beaver now stands at 3-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the EIL.
