Alex Volcy ’15, Ava Neely ’18, and the middle school boys’ A basketball team were recognized this week with Athletic Accolades for their accomplishments on the courts.
Alec Volcy ’15, Boys’ 3rds Basketball
Since day one of practice, Alex has dedicated himself to becoming a better athlete and teammate. He is one of the first students in the gym, and one of the last to leave. Alex’s shooting, dribbling ability, and overall knowledge of the game of basketball has improved greatly because he takes the initiative everyday to become better. In the team’s recent victory over Milton Academy, Alex had a dominating performance with 14 points, 5 steals, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds.
Ava Neely ’18, MS Girls’ B Basketball
Ava has had a huge impact on the team, both in practices and in games. Each day she shows tremendous work ethic, hustle, and competitive drive. Since Ava’s return from an injury, the team has gone 3-2 with Ava leading the team in scoring average with 7.8 points per game.
MS Boys’ A Basketball Team
Entering the basketball season we did not know what to expect. Having only five returning players, many things were a mystery. As the season progressed, the boys worked hard day-in and day-out, to not only get better but to support one another as well. So far the boys have set off to a commanding 11-1 record and just recently defended their title in the MeadowBrook Tournament to become back to back Champions.
