Beaver’s Athletic Department awarded four more Athletic Accolades for the winter season. The honor recognizes a student-athlete’s or team’s contribution and dedication in games and in practices. The four honorees this week are the girls’ varsity hockey team, Tyler Myrick ’13, Tyler Kavoogian ’13, and Jake Cowan-Witman ’18.
Girls’ Varsity Hockey
The girls hockey team is a good example of how hard work and persistence pays off. The team has improved significantly as its inaugural season has progressed. It was great to see them win the first game in program history this past week.
Tyler Myrick ’13 and Tyler Kavoogian ’13 – Varsity Wrestling
Myrick has had a dominant season this winter. He has amassed over 20 wins — 18 by pin, 14 of those pins in the first period of the match, and 10 of those pins in the first minute of the first period. He has placed 3rd in two tournaments this year and recently won the 145 lb weight class at the EIL championships.
Kavoogan has had great success this season winning over 75% of his matches. He has placed in two tournaments and recently won the EIL championships in the 125 weight class.
Jake Cowan-Whitman ’18 – Middle School Boys’ B Basketball
Jake Cowan-Whitman had strong performances in both games this past week. In the two games he had a combined 16 points, 8 steals and 4 assists. Along with his statistics, he always displays great hustle and leadership.
