As the fall sports season comes to an end, Beaver’s athletic department awarded the latest Athletic Accolades during an all-school assembly on Thursday, November 10. Karen Rathjens ’13, Zachary Herivaux ’15, and Sam Nelson ’16 were this week’s honorees.
Karen Rathjens ’13, Varsity Volleyball
Karen has been a formidable presence on varsity volleyball’s front row all season. She was particularly dynamic in the game against Gann where she helped the team defensively with her blocks and offensively with her hits. She was also a consistent passer when she played in the back row. Karen really helped the team control the momentum of the game.
Zachary Herivaux ’15, Boys Varsity Soccer
Zachary has been a significant part of the boys’ success this season. His ability to impact the game offensively and defensively has helped the team to its best season in years. With two goals and an assist in a game against Bancroft last week, he became one the leagues top ten scorers. On top of this, Zachary always shows humility and grace in everything he does.
Sam Nelson ’16, Middle School Boys’ A Soccer
Sam, the captain and leading scorer of a team that has dropped just two matches on the season, has been a valuable member of the squad both on and off the pitch. On the pitch, he orchestrates the attack from his central midfield position posting 14 goals and adding 7 assists on the season. Off the field he commands respect from his teammates, coaches, and peers, routinely doing whatever is asked of him in preparation for or at the conclusion of training sessions or games.
