Beaver’s first group of 2011-2012 Athletic Accolade recipients have put together some amazing performances this season. Charlie Segar ’12, Joe Connelly ’13, George Wright ’14, and Kathy Rodriguez ’14 were recognized at the fall sports pep rally on September 30.
Athletic Accolades are given to student-athletes who distinguish themselves in competition over and above others.
“I am thrilled with the success of our fall season,” said Sherry Levin, Director of Athletics. “As a result of the hard work and commitment by our student athletes, we are off to a great start.”
Charlie Segar ’12 – Boys’ Varsity Soccer
Charlie Segar has helped boys’ varsity soccer get off to a fantastic start in the opening weeks of the season. He scored a hat trick in the opener against Landmark and followed with a goal against BB&N and the game winner against Rivers. More importantly, Charlie has shown class, competitive spirit, and leadership. In the dying minutes against BB&N, he moved to center back from his striker position to help his team earn a hard-fought draw against a highly-talented and experienced team.
Joe Connelly ’13 & George Wright ’14 – Boys’ Varsity Cross Country
Boys’ varsity cross country won their race on Wednesday 9/21 vs. Pingree 16-44 behind strong performances from junior captain Joe Connelly and sophomore George Wright. The two-man lead pack went stride for stride the whole race to finish with the times of 17:08 for Joe and 17:10 for George. They were the first and second place finishers as they blew away the field.
Kathy Rodriguez ’14 – Girls’ JV Soccer
Kathy has been an integral part of the girls’ JV soccer team, both in games and during practice. She consistently keeps the team focused on our goals and leads by example on the field. Kathy has also been a key contributor in games by scoring three goals in the team’s last two winning games. She is determined to become a better soccer player and inspires others to strengthen their own skills.
