Posted on March 2, 2011

Both the boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams have earned bids to their respective NEPSAC Class C Tournaments.

The Beaver boys are the NEPSAC Class C #1 seed and will host the #8 Cambridge School of Weston in their second consecutive tournament appearance. The tip will be at 4:00 in Gym A on Wednesday, March 2. They will look to add more victories to their 25-1 record. Please come out and support the team. The semi-final game will be played Friday, March 4, and the Championship game on Sunday, March 6 at Worcester Academy.

The boys capped off an undefeated 2010-2011 EIL Season by winning the EIL Tournament on Saturday, February 26 at Concord Academy. As the regular season champs they earned the #1 spot in the EIL and handily beat Bancroft in the semi-finals of Pool A and Berwick in the championship game. Their sweep marks the second consecutive season that they won the regular season title and the tournament title. Beaver was led by sophomore co-captain Rene Castro’s 32 points in the championship game.

The girls earned their second consecutive berth to the NEPSAC Class C tournament as the #7 seed with their 17-4 record and will travel to Meriden, NH for their game vs. #2 seed KUA.

In their EIL Tournament, the #3 seeded girls ran out of gas in the championship game after their upset of a tough Portsmouth Abbey team who beat them in the regular season. They lost in the championship game vs. the regular season winner, LCA, by a score of 34-26.

“It is a great accomplishment to earn spots in the NEPSAC Tournaments,” said Director of Athletics Sherry Levin. “The boys have represented the Beaver community with class throughout this amazing season and we wish both teams the best of luck in their pursuit of another championship.”
