Joe Connelly ’13 (boys’ varsity basketball), Jamie Kennedy ’15 (MS boys’ A basketball), and Sophia Friedfertig ’16 (MS girls’ A basketball) were recognized at an all-school meeting as the latest recipients of Athletic Accolades.
“Joe has been a consistent performer in practice and in games,” says boys’ varsity basketball head coach Juan Figueroa. “His dedication to always working hard in practice really sets the tone for the rest of the team. Joe’s greatest contribution to the team’s success has been his outstanding defense.”
“From the opening day of tryouts Jamie stood high among his peers; not just in height but also with hard work and relentlessness to get better,” raves MS boys’ A basketball head coach Clinton Lassiter. “Day in and day out Jamie has stepped on to the court with a how-can-I-get-better attitude and has excelled to be one of the middle school boys’ A team’s lead-by-example captains. His hard work has helped propel our team to an undefeated 4-0 start winning by an average margin of over 25 points per game. Jamie’s efforts and hard work has become contagious throughout the team and could lead to a very successful season.”
“Sophia has come to every practice ready to improve,” states MS girls’ A head coach Carter Jordan. “She always is on time and has shown a lot of leadership qualities as the season has progressed. Sophia is very aggressive on the court and is the leading rebounder as well as one of the top three scorers. Her attitude on and off the floor will take her a long way.”
