Stepheny Kotzen Riemer ’65 is the 2010 recipient of the Beaver Service Award. Presented annually by the BCDS Alumni Association to a graduate, the Service Award recognizes Stepheny’s dedicated, enthusiastic and longstanding support of Beaver Country Day School.

In announcing the award at Reunion 2010, Head of School Peter Hutton said, “Stepheny’s involvement with Beaver spans decades, and runs deep. She remains current on school initiatives, provides strategic support to advance them, and is a passionate ambassador for the school in the Beaver community and beyond.”

Since graduating from Beaver 45 years ago, Stepheny has been actively involved in the school community as a parent, a grandparent, a member of the Board of Trustees, and currently as chair of the President’s Advisory Council. She holds both a BA and a master’s from Simmons College.

With her husband Bob, and children Mara ’88 (mother of Hannah Goldstein ’16) and Adam ’90, Stepheny has created the Marcia and Gilbert Kotzen Lecture series in honor of her late parents. Created in 2008, the annual Kotzen Lecture brings an outstanding speaker on a topic related to social justice to the school for presentations during the school day with students and at night for the parent and alumni community. This year’s guest speaker was Professor Raj Sisodia of Bentley University, a leader in the conscious capitalism movement.
