The spring NuVu program is in the home stretch and students are busy completing the “Filming the City” studio coached by award-winning filmmaker Alla Kovgan.
During the first days of the studio, students watched a few of Ms. Kovgan’s films and discussed the filmmaking process. The first week also featured a visit from Leonard Retel Helmrich — filmmaker and designer of the SteadyWing, a device used to produce smooth shots from a moving camera. Students built their own version of the SteadyWing using PVC piping.
This week students are working on creating their own movies for their final project. They have been on location filming and learning digital video editing.
We’ll post the final videos right here on the mashUp, so be sure to check back. Meanwhile, you can check out the NuVu blog for more pictures from the filmmaking studio.
