As the spring sports season begins to wind down Buzz Haverty ’10 (ultimate frisbee), Murray Hershkowitz ’10 (unltimate frisbee), Kristopher Bronner ’12 (varsity tennis), and Emily Robbins ’15 (MS softball) have earned the most recent Athletic Accolades.
“Buzz Haverty has established himself as a leader on Beaver’s Ultimate team,” says coach John Schatz. “He has been a reliable source of energy, playing nearly every minute of every game in recent weeks, and has taken on a great deal of responsibility as one of the team’s handlers. In Beaver’s recent tournament, he showed impressive endurance and growth over the course of the four games. As a result of his constant desire for constructive feedback, his self-confidence continued to improve as the team relied on him all day to help move the frisbee up the field in their third place finish.”
Coach Schatz also has this to say about Murray Hershkowitz: “He has been an invaluable addition to the Ultimate team this season. After an impressive performance against Concord Academy in which he took on more responsibility handling the frisbee, Murray has demonstrated his versatility on the field over the second half of the season. In the NEPSUL tournament, Murray was a menace to other teams playing in the middle of Beaver’s defense, and his receiving again provided a reliable target for Beaver’s offense.”
“Kristopher Bronner has teamed with a number of different partners to win 8 consecutive matches at 1st doubles, going undefeated at that position in league play without even having dropped a set,” said coach Pauri Pandian. “Bronner has proven to be a poised, confident player in his second season on the team, and has been a model of commitment and effort over the course of the season.”
“Although we have not won a game, Emily Robbins has provided solid pitching game in and game out. She has recorded very few walks this season,” says coach Amy Winston
