Teachers Who Go the Extra Mile – Literally

Posted on April 18, 2010

While the rest of us savor our Patriots Day holiday, four Beaver teachers will be running the 2010 Boston Marathon to raise money for charities that support education. Tara Paulauskas, Amy Winston, Alicia Henriquez and Cat Maher have trained hard all winter to run the 26.2 mile course on April 19.

Ms. Paulauskas (Director of Counseling Services) and Ms. Winston (MS art and softball) are running their fourth and third marathons, respectively, in support of GoKids at UMass Boston. Also representing GoKids is Ms. Henriquez (US Spanish and JV squash), who is running her first marathon. Ms. Maher (athletics assistant) is running to support Boston Partners in Education. While this is her first marathon, she is no stranger to rigorous training and tough competition, having been a standout scholastic and collegiate basketball player. Ms. Maher coaches MS cross country and is the assistant coach of the girls’ varsity basketball team.

Good luck, ladies!
