With winter sports back in action after the holiday break, three student-athletes were recognized for their achievements on the courts. Aleah Stewart-Souris ’10 (varsity volleyball), David Jacquet ’12 (boys’ JV basketball), and Jamie Kennedy ’15 (MS boys’ A basketball) took home this week’s Athletic Accolades.

Sherry Levin, Beaver’s Athletic Director says, “Our winter athletes have across the board performed at a high level. Selecting the recipients for the Athletic Accolade has become both competitive amongst our students as well as a recognition of the overall qualities associated with our our continued success.”

According to varsity volleyball coach Cory Kwon, “Aleah Stewart-Souris has displayed strong leadership with excellent serving, accurate setting and never-ending hustle.”

“David Jacquet is recognized for not only his great efforts on the court and his hard work and leadership amongst the team, but also for his composure and attitude despite the great tragedy of his people in Haiti,” says coach Clnton Lassiter. “David missed practice because he was absent from school for being sick, so he had to sit a half in the next game. Typically a starter, he never complained about his time on the bench and even coached and cheered along his teammates as they played their hearts out. David has been a cornerstone for the boys’ junior varsity team’s success and progression.”

“Jamie Kennedy has worked tirelessly to improve his game over the last six weeks,” said coach Jon Greenberg. “The fruits of his labors were evident in our win against Brimmer where he was a dynamic force on both ends of the court. He has become a key player on the team.”
