- How would you summarize your project in one sentence?
- I am helping New Politics identify candidates running for house and senate seats in 2020 with a service background, as well as identifying shifts in the legislative maps for 2020.
- What’s your personal story or the motivation to work on this, and how does it connect to your Beaver experience?
- After taking Theories of Justice with Ms. Gonzalez in the winter, I became very interested in criminal justice and I knew I wanted my internship to have something to do with that. While I struggled to find something in criminal justice, the opportunity to intern in politics where I could learn about an area I was unfamiliar with was super interesting to me. I thought it would be a great experience to learn about other ways I can impact policy change.

- “My internship with New Politics has given me a ton of insight on the behind the scenes of elections and the very different backgrounds of all political candidates. I have really enjoyed my experience helping identify candidates with a service background and learning about the shifts in the legislature map and the preparation that goes into redistricting for 2021.”
