I graduated from Boston College and stayed another year to get my masters degree. While I am certified to teach Elementary Education, my early passion was teaching Special Needs students (certified PreK-12). Following college, I headed to Hawaii to teach in a Special Needs Classroom on the North Shore of Oahu. When my school year in Hawaii ended, I returned to Boston to look for a teaching position and to work at Beaver Summer Programs.

I loved every moment of my summer at Beaver! It combined my two great loves: kids and warm weather. My Special Needs degree helped me navigate through any group social issues and the campus could not have been more beautiful. I thought Beaver Summer Programs was just the best. I worked as a special needs teach in Andover for a few years, spending summers at Beaver before being offered the position as the Assistant Director. I have been at Beaver for the past 11 summers and I am looking forward to summer 2012.

When I am not at camp, I am playing with my daughter, running, and spending time at the beach on Cape Cod.

Tara Paulauskas

I grew up in southern New Hampshire, where I also attended college, and then moved south to Boston shortly after graduation. I was given the opportunity to join the Beaver community in 2001 and have had the tremendous experience of working here, in various capacities, for the majority of my professional career. As the Director of Counseling Services and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, I am deeply committed to my counseling and advocacy work with students, parents and faculty. I strive to help others develop skills and strategies to navigate their realities. Beyond my work at school, I continue to try to seek balance in my own life. From a family of athletes and sports fans, I am a former swimmer turned marathon runner. I value family, adventures, and good relationships; all things that nurture healthy personal and professional growth. I continue to grow here at Beaver and remain inspired by the people who share their stories with me with everyday.
