Hello, Middle School Students and Families! Below is this week’s MS Meeting recap.

THE BVR STUDENT
Sienna Nyeko ‘30 and Lily DeBonis ’30 presented: Completes Assignments Thoroughly and On Time.
It’s important to try your best on assignments so you can learn more. It’s important to complete it thoroughly because then you’ll understand the topic better. I keep track of my work and the timing. I always look at what homework I have so I can complete it before the date.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Conor McKinley ’29 and Tariq Kasrawi ’28 recapped yesterday’s Hiatt Institute, titled Leaping Into Action.
I learned that becoming a leader takes a lot of time and effort, if you want to become a leader you don’t just randomly become one, you have to work to become one. Leadership is like a muscle, you have to build it up.

I learned that in high school you have to take the opportunities that are given to you to feel like you accomplished something in high school.

K.L. Benjamin ’28, Quinn Burke ’28, and Abigail Zimman ’28, this year’s head admission ambassadors, encouraged all 7th grade students who are Admission Ambassadors to apply to be next year’s head admission ambassadors. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 14. All three of them spoke about why they applied to be head admission ambassadors:
I wanted to be a head ambassador because I wanted to be able to interact with the incoming families. I wanted to be able to help out in the Beaver community and play a big leadership role as well.

I became an ambassador because I remember some of the ambassadors from when I was applying to Beaver. It was really helpful to talk and interact with a current student. I want to make that same experience for new students and families who are thinking of coming to Beaver.

I wanted to be a head admission ambassador because I had been an ambassador beforehand and found the experience very valuable, and I wanted to do even more this year. I really liked being able to connect with parents and students who were looking at Beaver and this gave me plenty of chances to do that.

Nate Guevin and Tim Barber talked about Free Comic Book Day that happened this past weekend and encouraged students to come down to the D-Level during CREATE this week to check out the collection of graphic novels, create a comic book, and talk to Mr. Barber about the comic books he has written and illustrated: SHREDMAN.
The last day of classes for the seniors is this Thursday. To celebrate, they have an assembly called Senior Send Off. At this event during Upper School Meeting, 6th grade students participate by handing each senior a white rose as they exit, and we all enjoy a performance by the 6th and 7th grade chorus. All 6th and 7th grade students in chorus should wear Beaver colors on Thursday!
Rishaan Chowdhury ’29 announced this month’s “Guess the Candy in the Jar” winner. Congratulations to Nate Howard ’28!
Sharing the Wisdom: 8th graders presenting about an important middle school topic. Ms. O’Dowd’s advisory presented on gossip. Quinn Burke, James Hester, Kaz Jurkiewicz, Layla Slocum, Adyana Gresham, and Nate Howard shared:
Gossiping may seem harmless, but it can have serious consequences. Here’s a quick rundown:
- Gossip spreads rumors, often untrue.
- It can hurt people, ruin friendships, and invade privacy.
- Engaging in gossip makes you part of the problem.
What to do when told gossip:
- Tell a trusted adult or friend.
- Don’t spread it!
- If you know it’s false, speak up.
Remember, gossip can escalate into bullying. Be mindful of who you share information with. In summary, it’s about being responsible with what you say and understanding the impact of your words on others.
Student Council announced a Middle School field trip to Level 99 in Natick, MA on Friday, May 31. Before we leave for Natick, we will spend the morning doing fun activities run by teachers. After lunch, we will travel by bus to Level 99 and return to campus by 3:30 p.m.
All students must have a completed Level 99 SmartWaiver by Friday, May 17 to participate in the activities.
The 8th grade leaves for New York City tomorrow! We discussed what to pack (I recommend overnight items in one bag to go under the bus and another “carry-on” bag for the bus). They do not need to bring any school materials (leave the laptop at home!), and a reminder that phones, smartwatches, and all items that connect to wifi must be left home. We are also giving them some great swag for the trip!
