Here is a short wrap-up from this past week—January 15 through January 19—in the Upper School.

School was closed on Monday in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

At Club Block on Tuesday, clubs participated in a wide range of activities. The Film Club made preparations for the Film Festival on February 16. BEAT (Beaver Environmental Action Team) did maintenance on their hydroponic grow structure, which was assembled the week prior (read more here). DECA continued preparing for their state competition, where several teams will compete in after winning awards in a regional competition.

On Wednesday, Entrepreneurship with a Purpose students took a trip to MIT Solve. During the visit, students learned more about social impact and social entrepreneurship, including how startups are connected with the funding needed to solve global challenges. The class will take what they learned during the visit and apply it to their investigation into how businesses can address sustainable development goals.

During an US class meeting, Mr. Adjout and Mr. Reddy previewed the BVR Accelerator program with students. Students were guided through the sign-up process, which started on Thursday and will continue until next Tuesday, January 23. You can preview the sessions–with topics ranging from game design to the financial world to Taylor Swift–here.

Friday kicked off a weekend of rehearsals for Only in Dreams, Beaver’s upcoming winter play. Students started rehearsal by sharing the good and bad things that occurred during their day, then got to work on stage. You can see Only in Dreams on January 25, 26 and 27.
