Alison MacDonald | Director of Upper School
I’m coming from… BC High, where I was the Interim Principal and Vice President of Educational Strategy
When I’m not at work, you can find me… in the pool with my kids, Marin and Henry, and my English bulldog Carmela Soprano (who also enjoys a swim).
My favorite thing about Boston is… The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the North End, and Fenway Park.
Book I’m reading… I just finished reading The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett, which was perfect for summer. Not too heavy, with a wonderful story and characters.
TV show I’m binging… Just finished Widow’s Bay, season 1! Great for fans of Stranger Things—with a New England coastal vibe and a lot of scares.
Favorite meal or comfort food… As an Italian, it’s anything with copious amounts of red sauce and good cheese.
One word you’re bringing into this school year… Optimism!
What excites you most about working at Beaver? The connections with students and the vibrant, talented community.

I’m coming from… Fessenden School and Babson College (where I was the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach)
When I’m not at work, you can find me… Doing my homework for my Master’s degree at Boston College, and obsessing over the Premier League.
My favorite thing about Boston is… Window shopping on Newbury Street and exploring new restaurants.

What excites you most about working at Beaver? I’m excited to work with our student-athletes to develop our sports programs and to shape a new generation of leaders.

What excites you most about teaching/working at Beaver? While I was interviewing, I got the sense that everyone I met was genuinely excited to be at Beaver and part of the community. I’m really excited and honored to join a community with so many passionate educators and students.

I’m coming from… Beacon Communities.
When I’m not at work, you can find me… typically out and about with my wife and daughter. Spending time at the Arboretum or Castle Island are amongst our favorites.
My favorite thing about Boston is… the food. So many food-inspired adventures.

TV show I’m binging… Currently my favorite show is Mr. Inbetween.

Jodi Walker | Global History + Social Sciences Teacher (Theories of Punishment Course)
I’m coming from… the BVR Board, Classroom C7 (last two years) + the mentorship of Yolanda Wilcox González.
When I’m not at work, you can find me… listening to criminal justice reform podcasts.
My favorite thing about Boston is… that it’s the home of the Pan-Mass Challenge, the largest charity bike ride in the US.

Teresa Hunter | Upper School Global History and Social Sciences Teacher
I’m coming from… Most recently a Catholic high school on the south shore, and before that I was working on my PhD in Sydney, Australia.
When I’m not at work, you can find me… Outside! With three kids and a puppy we are always at a park or in the woods.

Book I’m reading or Podcast I recommend… My kids and I are working through all of the debate podcast Smash Boom Best—a highlight every week. I’m reading Out of the Dark Night by Achille Mbembe, a wonderful series of essays on decolonization, and Blackouts by Justin Torres, a novel about how histories are written. Blackouts takes the form of a conversation between the narrator and Juan Gay his dying friend, the novel blends this fictional friendship with the real history and erasure of lesbian researcher and activist Jan Gay.
TV show I’m binging… My son and I just finished Avatar: The Last AirBender.
Favorite meal… Moules Frites. I could eat it everyday.
One word you’re bringing into this school year… Present. I have a goal to be completely present with my students and my colleagues. I think that undivided attention is the greatest gift we can give to one another in 2026, so I want to be present, not thinking about the next class or the next week, but fully engaged in whoever and whatever is in front of me.
What excites you most about teaching at Beaver? I’m excited about how Beaver encourages curiosity and exploration, students and teachers are encouraged to try new things, and learn from the experience, even if it goes wrong
