Hello Middle School Students and Families! Below is a recap of this week’s MS Meeting.

Ellery Harper ’31, Ruby Parker-Geller ’31, and Estelí Valenzuela ’31 ran today’s meeting. You can check out the slides from this week’s meeting here.

THE BVR STUDENT

Aarav Khanna ’31 shared “Takes only what they need.

I chose to present “takes only what they need” because I think it is important to not waste supplies and resources you do not need. When you take extra supplies, there will not be enough for other people that might actually need it. I do this when I am on the D-Level during Create. I make sure that I do not use more than I need because we all deserve to have access to all supplies and the opportunity to use all resources.

Announcements

Conor McKinley ’29 and Liam Weeks ’29 recapped the last Hiatt Leadership InstituteTake The Reins: Focus on What’s Yours to Impact.

We reflected on what it means to be a social impact leader as a middle school student, and we learned that being a leader is not about how loud you are or about a title. It’s about noticing a need and doing something about it. Leili Singer ’26, a junior student leader, shared about her trajectory as a leader at Beaver and about her Cohn Grant project building sensory boards for children with disabilities. Leili challenged us to break into teams to design a sensory board for a 10-year-old boy named Cezanne. After sharing details about the boy’s needs, we got to work making our prototypes. It was too hard for Leili to pick just one team as the best design, so she decided that she is going to put together two designs into one.

  • Marli Forrester ’29, Jasper Ingenthron ’29 and Zach Chiu ’29 AND
  • Camille Torres-Vega ’29, Reade Mrazek ’30, and Bea van Stolk ’29!

Congratulations on creating amazing designs that will for sure make Cezanne super happy and excited to learn!
