Beaver’s Outstanding Young Alumni Award recognizes a graduate within the last 20 years (1994-2014) who has shown outstanding performance, competence and achievement in a professional field and/or volunteer commitment.
We are honored to present Doron ‘Dori’ Oskowitz ’97 with the 2015 Outstanding Young Alumni Award.
A Grammy nominated director, Oskowitz’s video collaborations span some of music’s most influential artists – including Jack White, Cee-Lo, Lenny Kravitz, Pharrell, Passion Pit, Marina and the Diamonds, Wiz Khalifa, Ke$ha, Raphael Saadiq, Leon Bridges, and many others. After studying filmmaking in New York, Oskowitz moved to Los Angeles and formed the directing collective SKINNY. Under the banner, he directed Academy Award winning actress Natalie Portman in Devendra Banhart’s video for Carmensita. NME and Rolling Stone magazine named it one of their top videos of 2008. In 2010, Oskowitz directed the music video for Cee Lo’s No One’s Gonna Love You, which screened at the Hammer Museum and the SXSW Film Festival, and was featured in Creativity Magazine.
His latest projects include the Blackout documentary for VICE, which follows a night out in electronic music around the world, and a music video for DJ Snake & AlunaGeorge’s You Know You Like It, which tells the story of an anthropomorphized, drug-dealing chimp on the brink of a meltdown. Oskowitz’s incredibly unique and powerful eye as a director has drawn attention from the advertising world and he has worked with Smirnoff, Corona Light, Absolut, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Toyota, and – most recently – Nike in an Instagram campaign featuring singer Ellie Goulding.
This year marks Oskowitz’s entrance into long form narrative as he’s signed on to helm the remake of French New Wave legend Eric Rohmer’s 1982 film A Good Marriage. Shooting is slated to begin fall 2015.
The Alumni Award presentation and reception will be held during Reunion 2015, Friday, May 8 at 5 p.m. in the Black Box Theater.
