Robert MacDonald

My childhood was split between Carlisle, MA, and Kennebunk, ME; both towns had strong public schools, and I feel lucky to have had outstanding teachers who still serve as role models. After graduating from Wesleyan, I taught math and English for one year at Philips Academy in Andover, an impressive school where I learned a great deal. I have found that Beaver’s more personal and progressive approach to education makes it a better match for me, though. My interests range from politics to poetry, and I’m grateful that I’ve had the opportunity at Beaver to teach a wide variety of courses, including World Films, Algorithmic Art, Fiction Writing and Computer Programming. Mostly, though, I’m happy to be part of a faculty that genuinely cares so much about students and works to make the school stronger year after year.
