I was born and raised in Detroit, MI where I attended a private boarding school not too far from my hometown. As a first-generation college student, it was important to me (and my family) that I graduate from college. That became a reality when I graduated from Wesleyan University (CT) with a double major in Sociology and African-American Studies in 2014. Throughout my time at Wesleyan, I held virtually every student employment position in their office of admission and that experience was the catalyst to my career in admissions.
Upon graduating college, I worked at Kenyon College in Gambier, OH where I was Associate Director of Multicultural Admissions. Because I missed genuine and close relationships with students and their families (and because I missed the East Coast), I later became a college counselor at a boarding school in Massachusetts where I also assisted in the schools’ equity and inclusion efforts. In 2019, I joined Beaver and instantly fell in love with the community’s intentional support of its students, families, and faculty members to engage with the ever-changing world around them.
