In Response: Currently Showing at the Nancy Lincoln Gallery

September 8 – October 3

This show, inspired by the work of Rachel Perry Welty, asks students of four different Beaver visual arts classes:

What would a gallery exhibit look like based on empty snack and cereal boxes?

Each class will have one week in the gallery, and they will use snack and cereal boxes to answer the essential questions of their course. The work from all four classes will culminate in an exhibit in October.

  • Week 1: September 8-12, Fieldwork class
  • Week 2: September 15-19, Mashup
  • Week 3: September 22-26, Visual Art Workshop (Middle School)
  • Week 4: September 29-October 3, Media and Message class

This post will be updated throughout the four weeks to show what students are working on.

Week 4: Media & Message
The Media & Message class has turned the Nancy Lincoln Gallery into a logo crime scene. They created human outlines out of snack and cereal boxes that tell stories of criminal acts, popular culture, and brand acquisition.Logo crime scene by the Media and Message class

  1. I was surprised to see more materials than boxes, why were you allowed to use more than just boxes? What was the process of getting the other materials?
