New 2012 Faculty and Staff Prepare for Life at Beaver

With the 2012-13 school year around the corner, eight of Beaver’s new faculty and staff are spending the week with Beaver veteran Peter Gow in his Introduction to Life at Beaver (iL@B) program. In addition to the nuts and bolts of teaching and working at Beaver, they will learn the history of the school and about the programs that make Beaver unique – from the Hiatt Center for Civic Engagement to the NuVu program.

The entire Beaver community welcomes the following new faculty and staff:

Mark Abruzzese, Science Department Chair
Mark brings to Beaver an extensive knowledge of a variety of science disciplines. Most recently he taught chemistry, physics, and environmental science at Menlo School in Atherton, Calif., where he also served as chairperson of the science department and director of the school’s re-accreditation process. Previously, he taught at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School in Sudbury, Mass.

 

Tiffany Anderson, Upper School Math
Tiffany has more than eight years experience teaching children of all ages in both urban and international schools. She joins Beaver after three years at the American School of Marrakech in Morocco, where she taught various levels of math and served as a college counselor.

 

Alma Luisa Andrade, Upper School Spanish  
Luisa comes to Beaver from Arizona, where she taught first- and second-year Spanish at Sahuaro High School in Tucson. She previously served as an interpreter for the National Institutes of Health and worked in fundraising, communications, and event planning for Latina Style Magazine and the Hispanic National Bar Association in Washington, D.C.

 

Jason Cummings, Modern Languages Department Head
With a Ph.D in Spanish literature from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Jason joins Beaver after serving as director of global studies at Green Farms Academy in Green Farms, Conn., where he also taught Spanish and English.  Previously, he was a Spanish teacher at Avon Old Farms School for Boys in Avon, Conn.

 

Crystal Reder, Middle School Science
Crystal has taught middle school science at Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Boston and at Stephan Decatur Middle School in Brooklyn, N.Y. She has a master of science for teachers in adolescent education from Pace University and a bachelor of science in Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

 

Jaclyn Linet, Visitor Experience Coordinator
Jaclyn graduated Suffolk University with a bachelor of science in public relations. She has a background in event planning, marketing, customer service, and hospitality, and has worked on several design projects, including creating the marketing collateral for Vino Fine Wine and Spirits in New York City.

 

Jonathan Robin, Upper School Science  
Jonathan joins Beaver after more than a decade of teaching science in the United Kingdom. He spent four years at Barclay School in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, UK before moving to Fearnhill School in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, UK.

 

 

Bianca Strzelczyk, Marketing Associate
Bianca comes to Beaver with a strong background in digital journalism and social media marketing. Most recently, she was the digital marketing manager at New Generation Energy. She also worked for the technology news organization TechTarget and co-oped at Boston.com and The Patriot Ledger.
