Beaver coaches and athletes are back on campus and gearing up for an exciting fall season. The Athletic Department and school community are thrilled to welcome new and returning student-athletes to begin our 2011 fall athletic season. As the teams participate in double-session workouts they are prepared to continue on a path towards athletic excellence.
“There is a buzz surrounding the beginning of the school year and return of the student-athletes this fall. The energy and expectations are at a high level across each of our sports,” said Athletic Director Sherry Levin. “We look forward to seeing our student athletes work hard and do their best.”
2010 was a banner year for the varsity boys’ cross country team as they were undefeated capturing the EIL Championship and the NEPSAC Class D Title. With a number of returning runners the boys are poised to challenge for another championship banner. The girls’ cross country team has added some young and eager runners and hopes to show well amongst the strong EIL teams.
Following three consecutive EIL Tournament appearances, the field hockey team will look to participate in the postseason tourney for the fourth straight year. The team has a group of young talent who will work hard and continue to build on its recent progress.
The varsity golf team is looking to get back to championship form. After winning five consecutive EIL championships from 2004-08, the team has re-loaded and has hopes of a strong finish this season in the top of the league.
The boys’ soccer team will also benefit from a strong returning core and several talented young players. In 2010 the team finished second in EIL competition and qualified for the NEPSAC Class C Tournament. This season, with a very technical and experienced pool of players, the boys will attempt to challenge for the EIL title and a consecutive postseason bid this fall.
The girls’ soccer team looks to bring tremendous experience and energy to the program. The team is returning 12 players. With several new student athletes joining them, girls’ varsity soccer hopes to be make significant progress in 2011.
Volleyball has moved from the winter season to fall competition. Building on last season’s record number of wins, the team looks to train hard with a goal of building on their success.
